Classic Hummus


Hummus is a blend of cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans), tahini sesame paste, fresh garlic, lemon juice and salt to taste. Garnish as desired. 

You will need

  • 4 cups of canned chickpeas (must drain and rinse) or to use raw chickpeas, soak overnight and cook until soft and drain. 
  • 4 tablespoons of tahini sesame paste
  • 4 garlic cloves 
  • 1 cup of ice cold water 
  • 1 lemon, juiced 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 

To a food processor

Add the above ingredients to a food processor for 2 minutes or until the hummus is blended to your desired texture, coarse or smooth and creamy. 

Adjust salt to taste and serve chilled or at room temperature. 

Enjoy with pita bread or your favorite veggies.
